Methyl Cellulose is physically inert and is widely used as a thickener, protective colloid, auxiliary emulsifier, pigment, adhesive and film-forming agent of pharmaceutical tablets and cosmetics.

It can be used for eye drops, drug stabilizers, oral laxatives, mouthwash and corneal wetting fluids for contact lenses. It is also used as a sustained-release, hydrophilic reinforcing material, micro-porous film or in multilayer coating formulations.
