L-HPC (Low-substituted Hydroxypropyl Cellulose) is mainly used as a tablet-disintegration accelerator. It should be applied to tablets that show poor disintegration properties.

By accelerating the disintegration and increasing the fineness of a dispersion, after disintegration ,it improves the bioavailability of the API. For drugs that can't be easily moulded, L-HPC can increase the hardness of the ablet. It is suitable for use in both wet and dry granulation. It can also be added as an adhesive in starch paste.

(Low – Substituted Hydroxy Propyl Cellulose is ranked as the first choice of tablet disintegrant. As its Powder has a larger surface area and porosity, L- HPC can improve the hardness and the degree of finish of tablets, accelerate their moisture – absorption to facilitate their disintegration, promote medicine dissolution and enhance biological utilization ratio. L HPC also has good anti capping effect for tableting process. Under long term storage, L-HPC‘s disintegrability can remain unchanged .
