Croscarmellose Sodium
A cross-linked polymer of sodium carboxy methyl cellulose, croscarmellose serves as a disintegrant in medicinal formulations. The powder form of croscarmellose sodium is odorless, white or greyish white.
After oral delivery, disintegrants make it easier for a pill to break up in the intestinal tract. Cross-linking provides for better medication solubility and increased bioavailability. Tablets without a disintegrant may not dissolve properly, which could impact how much of the active ingredient is absorbed and reduce effectiveness.
APPLICATIONS
- It is used in oral pharmaceutical formulations as a disintegrant for capsules, tablets and Granules
- It is used in both direct-compression and wet-granulation processes
- Effective even at low use levels
- Superior long-term Dissolution Stability
- Insensitive to Tablet Hardness
